When Donald Trump first started talking about running for President, I was certain that he was just seeking a little publicity. As he continued talking about running and started embracing the Birther movement, I was even more certain he was not going to run and was just being shameless about his use of controversy to stir up excitement and demonstrate his master at self promotion.

Then to my utter amassment he kept on getting interviews, kept pushing his potential Presidential campaign and became a frontrunner in GOP Primary Poles. Could it be that he was a serious candidate? If he was serious why did he keep pressing the easily dismissed and many times over debunked Birther nonsense?

Then is struck me, the obvious answer was neither of those two scenarios. No nothing so obvious or easy explain. Donald Trump is a Democratic Shill. He is engaging in these pre-campaign antics for the sole benefit of the Democratic Party. See if you agree with my reasoning here.

Recall that Donald Trump was a Presidential Contender once before as an independent. At that time he was in favor of a one time 14% Wealth tax on the rich to help eliminate the deficit; he was a proponent of a Single Payer Healthcare System, and was Pro-Choice. Clearly more Liberal than many of those in the Democratic Party are now. Of course he claims to have flip-flopped on all those issues now, but that is not the most damning evidence.

First consider, after almost three years of bunking and refuting the Birther claim that President Obama was not born in the United States, the topic would not die. It kept raising its head over and over again. But up steps Donald Trump with his over the top and embarrassing adoption of the Birther claim. Donald is so brash that the Main Stream Media put more effort into rebutting the claim, and as The Donald rises in the Primary polls it becomes and embarrassment to the GOP while disaffecting Independent Voters. Voila, with in two months, Carl Rove, Bill O'Rilly and Michele Bachman have all refuted the claim as false on camera.

Then The Donald comes out endorsing vigorous action to bring back jobs to the U.S. from overseas. The issue of creating more job in the Untied States is of such profound interest to the American people that this plan even gets the endorsement of MSNBC's Ed Schultz (a devout Leftie). What is this plan? The Donald would place a 25% excise tax on goods brought into the U.S. when the manufacture of those goods had been outsourced. Bringing, he claims, jobs back to the U.S. and raising revenue in the process. But Donald, as a GOP candidate you must never endorse raising taxes and worst of all you can not put into the minds of the American People the idea that raising taxes can ever be beneficial. If the idea that all taxes are not inherently evil ever catches on what will become of the GOP "Tax Cuts are the Answer" mantra.

To add insult to injury, there is Donald's assertion that he would not follow the Paul Ryan Plan and would not cut Medicare. He is undermining the GOP campaign strategies at every turn. It is clear to me that The Donald is a Democratic Shill. A Progressive Political Mole. A Manchurian Pre-Candidate for Left Wing.

What are you thoughts? Please talk the poll and let me know.

Hmm... I suspect not many are reading the article, and are just voting. Not a single comment on content such as this item:

I think he's such an idiot he doesn't know what it means to have a consistent ideology.

I chose the "self promoter" choice. The "Democratic shill" idea did cross my mind too but ultimately he is a text book example of the narcissistic personality disorder. And he probably doesn't give a rat's ass about politics.

I just noticed the satire tag. So what is your opinion of Trump?

of course I am pushing the Shill Idea because it seems fun to play with. But now I understand that Trump is bad mouthing Regan, I might just be onto something here. :0)

Incredible free advertising. Companies pay hundreds of millions for that kind of TV time. Trump is his brand. Inadvertently he is helping President Obama. I don't think Donald is even aware. Just like the Westboro Baptist Church does more to improve the status of Atheists than they do Christians.

He's not a Democratic shill. He does not care.

He is also not a racist. Trump only sees people in terms of how much money they can make or lose for him. He's entirely color blind. (except for green maybe) He does not even see people as people probably. They are just bank accounts.

It may have been meant as satire, but regardless of intent, there is more truth to the notion than many on both the left and the right would like to admit. Even assuming that was NOT his intent, Trump's antics do nothing but hurt the GOP and help the Democrats in the upcoming election, if only by disaffecting the Independents by making the GOP look completely demented. Months ago I was pointing out that the left would like nothing better than to see Sarah Palin as the next GOP candidate since she would be pretty much guaranteed to lose no matter how disillusioned the public has grown with Obama. Since then it has become clear she was losing her luster with even the right and was unlikely to get the nomination. Enter Donald Trump - and his bizarre posturing on "the Birther Conspiracy", his inexplicably stupid comments about "the Blacks" and other behavior guaranteed to disaffect large blocks of voters - who actually IS doing better in the polls than any of the other GOP candidates. If he is not intentionally acting as a shill it is of no real consequence. He will certainly end up having that effect regardless of his intentions. Hell, at the rate he is going, he will probably cost the GOP the gains it made in the midterms. Liberals and Democrats all over the country are quietly cheering him on. With luck, he'll pick Palin for his running mate and seal the deal beyond all hope of redemption.

Personally, I'm an independent and while liberal on many social issues am pretty damn conservative on others (like the Second Amendment), but while I have cast my vote for Republican candidates in the past there is no way in hell I will ever vote for anyone who is delusional enough to buy into the Birther nonsense or loudly proclaim that "the Blacks" are to blame for the fact that we have a Democrat in the White House. Whether that is what Trump is actually trying to accomplish with his mad bloviating I neither know nor care. To a pragmatist like me the only thing that is actually germane is that it will, ultimately, have that effect.

            Ah yes Gaylord

I had forgotten about "The Blacks". I am amazed by the trajectory he has been on, and like the satire in the Dailey Show, it only good if there is a core of truth in it. By the way, I always vote up anyone who manages to use a word like "bloviating" in their post.

No way this Trump could ever run. I can only begin to imagine the amount of dirt that would be found out about his lifestyle and ways he makes money. For years we have read that in NY real estate not ONE thing is built without paying off for PERMITS , DELIVERIES AND ACQUIRING LAND. Let THE FUN BEGIN

I think he can still run, but I don't think he can hide anymore ;) If he even put his name in the ring, he'd be pulled apart so fast for his misdealings and greed. He's a pretty dispicable person.

In the last few days, I've been hearing about stars and entertainers refusing to even show up at his family's charity events, for fear that they will be seen as accepting of his tactics. He responded with his innate bullying ways. Very telling about his character. Talk about a pitbull--Palin looks like a fairy God mother compaired to him. I've wanted him to go away since I first learned of his existence in the public eye. He's a greedy creep.

Don't even start on how he wants us just to "take the oil out of the MidEast". WTF? His head really needs to be deflated...his history and body really can't support it much longer.

You may have read that but if you really think Donald Trump - or anyone else, for that matter - has actually recorded payoffs to the mob, union officials, city inspectors or any of the other venal small-time crooks that actually get things done so that they can be used as evidence you are living in a dream world. People can speculate all they want, but if there were any actual proof he'd have been either in the Witness Protection Program or a Club Fed a looooooong time ago. That stuff all goes on the books under "Entertainment Expense" and "Miscellaneous", and NOBODY testifies unless they want a three a.m. visit from Guido and Vito.

If that megalomaniac decides he can actually win, he has more than enough money to finance his campaign out-of-pocket so he doesn't have to release any financial documentation at all anyway, and after watching one (okay... after watching about five minutes of one) episode of Celebrity Apprentice, I don't doubt for a single second that he's arrogant enough to take a run at it...

I am less concerned that The Donald is misguided enough to think he can run, what concerns me is how many people in recent polls of Republicans think he would be a reasonable candidate.

But hey, I'm sure the Obama Administration is applauding him all the way.
